PTA November 2020 Zoom General Meeting Minutes

 

 

  • Meeting Agenda:

    Wednesday, November 18, 2020, 7pm

     

    • Call to Order - 7:13pm - 14 participants. Motion made by Ania Kozlowska, seconded by Diana Santiago. Motion passes.

     

    • Approval of Minutes - 5 min.
      • MOTION: Approve October general meeting minutes. Motion made by Diana Santiago, seconded by Cynthia Rackin. Motion passes.

     

    • Treasurer’s Report, Susan Gabbay & Ania Kozlowska - 5 min.
      • MOTION: Approve October treasurer’s report. Motion made by Diana Santiago, seconded by Cynthia Rackin. Motion passes.

     

    • New Business - 15 min.
      • MOTION: Vote to hold Greenlight Online Book Fair to raise money towards Spring virtual clubs. Book fair dates: Wednesday, Nov. 25 - Wednesday, Dec. 9 Motion passes - 100% voted yes. Motion made by Jasmine Hagler, seconded by Tracey Rojas-Wright.
      • MOTION: Vote to create an online mask fundraiser to raise money towards Spring virtual clubs. Motion passes - 100% voted yes. Motion made by Jasmine Hagler, seconded by Diana Santiago.
      • MOTION: Vote to reimburse Ms. Thompson for Pre-K graduation gifts - $125.86. Motion passes - 100% voted yes. Motion made by Jasmine Hagler, seconded by Diana Santiago.

     

    • Principal’s Report - 30 min.
      • Update and Q&A with Principal Maluf
        • SLT created a survey for teachers to see who would be interested in doing after school clubs. We are working on clubs/art/enrichment, and also academic intervention. With the shorter day, it is harder to get in extra classes outside of mandated classes. Reaching out to outside organizations to see if they would be interested in helping supplement the arts program.
        • Families may still pick up breakfast and lunch at the school each day from 9a-12pm.

     

    • SLT Update, Monique Nieves & Amber Parker - 15 min.

     

    • President’s Report, Monique Nieves & Amber Parker - 30 min.
      • Lunch Forms/Title I - reminder to fill out lunch forms.
      • PAC Election - November 23 - description of PAC chair responsibilities given by Jasmine Hagler.
      • Thanksgiving Charity - PTA is brainstorming ways to contribute to the community during the holidays. Some charities to consider giving to are No Kid Hungry, City Harvest, NY Cares.
      • Student re-entry begins November 30
      • Re-entry survey reminder
      • Other possible re-entry dates - week of January 18, week of March 9, week of April 19.

PAC Election Meeting Minutes:

PTA November 2020 Zoom PAC Election Meeting Minutes

 

Meeting Agenda:

Monday, November 23, 2020, 7pm

 

  • Call to Order - 7:07PM, 10 participants

 

  • Explain Title I, Monique Nieves & Amber Parker
    • Title I based on how many students in the school are eligible for free lunch.
    • PAC gets 1% of Title I money.
    • PS316 is a Title I school which means the Title I money is used for all students in the school.
    • The 1% that PAC gets is used to benefit parents and to teach them how to support their children’s education.

 

  • PAC Chair Responsibilities, Jasmine Hagler - current PAC Chair
    • Title I schools are required to establish a PAC - Parent Advisory Committee.
    • Overview of PAC duties and responsibilities.

 

  • Nominations for PAC Chair/Alternate
    • Motion made by Erin Krasniewicz to nominate Maura Lout as PAC Chair, seconded by Monique Nieves.
    • Motion made by Erin Krasniewicz to nominate Mike Bratton as PAC alternate, seconded by Diana Santiago.

 

  • PAC Election
    • MOTION: Vote for Maura Lout to be PAC Chair - Vote passes with 100% of the votes.
    • MOTION: Vote for Mike Bratton to be PAC Alternate - Vote passes with 100% of the votes.
    • MOTION: Vote for PAC Chair term, 1 or 2 years - Vote passes for a 1 year term with 57% of the votes.
